Latest News and information!
Ann Underwood and Dot Atkins, two of our members, have jointly taken on the role of Co-ordinator for the Isle of Wight for this charity, and Vectis Quilters is pleased to support them.
This 100% volunteer organisation operates regionally, bringing together people who make quilts and knit blankets, and organisations whose clients are sick or traumatised children, who might benefit from ‘a hug they can keep’. Not all of us can run marathons or climb mountains to help members of our community, but through Project Linus UK our sewing and knitting skills can hopefully make a child smile.
Initially, we have made contact with the Children’s Oncology Ward at St Mary’s Hospital, and Beaulieu House Respite Centre. Quilts will be donated to these agencies, and they will be responsible for giving them to the children. We will contact other agencies on the Island in due course.
If you are able to make a quilt, please contact Ann for the guidelines – simple but important. We will also gratefully accept donations of fabric, scraps, orphan blocks, cash!
Jenny Cottier continues to make small quilts for the Neo-Natal Unit at the hospital. Within Vectis Quilters there is a group of ladies who sew quilts for giving to the young people who benefit from the services of The Foyer in Ryde. These ladies would also love to receive donations of fabric to allow them to continue.

We have had one meeting where some members decided to start to form a group on the Island to support Linus – a world wide charity. They will be meeting in June to swap fabrics, sit and sew and have a good chat! Meanwhile quilts are all ready being made and donated.
